Buying/Trading FAQs

  • What fees are associated with buying?

    • COLLECT has the lowest fees in the industry, with a 3% fee for basic account holders and 2% for Mobile+ subscribers. Premium subscribers pay zero fees on COLLECT.

  • If someone doesn’t provide proof of purchase for sneakers, what can I do?

    • You can message the seller directly on the app and request receipt proof or report the listing.

  • What is the difference between ‘Buy it Now’ and ‘Offers’?

    • Listings shown as ‘Buy it Now’ are available to purchase immediately. Listings shown as “Make An Offer” are available to acquire via a trade or by submitting a cash offer.

  • What are the payment methods?

    • You can make a purchase with either your debit card or credit card, and your card information is connected to Stripe, Inc. and its affiliates (“Stripe”), a third-party payment system. When you make a purchase on COLLECT, the payment will come from your card, but Stripe will “hold” the funds until the product is delivered. This protects you from paying for a product that you never receive.

  • Who is responsible for applicable fees, duties, and taxes?

    • The buyer is responsible for all of the applicable fees, duties, and taxes.

  • What fees are associated with trading?

    • COLLECT trades are subject to a base service fee of $8 for basic account holders and $5 for Mobile+ subscribers. Premium subscribers continue to pay $0 for trades.

  • Can you trade at market value on COLLECT?

    • The trade value is agreed upon by the buyer and seller. Certain trade exchanges will vary, but both parties should agree to what they are comfortable with.

  • What if traded from another platform? How do I value the shoe?

    • We recommend being as transparent as possible about the exchange in the seller’s notes and communicating with the potential buyer during direct messaging. From there, the trade value is agreed upon by the buyer and seller.

  • What fees are associated with selling?

  • Why can’t I sell my sneakers above retail?

    • COLLECT is a marketplace that puts the power back into the buyer’s hands. We serve an audience who is looking to collect and wear their shoes, not sell them for a profit.

  • What does SoleSavy define as ‘retail price’?

    • Retail pricing is defined as MSRP plus up to 20% to fully recoup the buyer’s expenses which include local taxes and shipping costs.

    • The 20% considers the additional costs incurred in purchasing a sneaker, including the taxes and shipping costs. Some sites may offer free shipping but charge taxes, while others might have taxes + flat rate shipping enabled.

    • Example: If you bought a pair of Air Jordan 3 ‘Fire Red’ for $210 retail + tax + shipping, the maximum price COLLECT will allow is $252

  • What if I paid more than retail for my sneakers? Can I still sell them on COLLECT?

    • You will not be able to list a sneaker for above retail with a ‘Buy it Now’ option. You are encouraged to upload proof of purchase with your listing and select accepting offers or trades for your sneaker. The seller notes provide a good space for you to include what sneakers/offers you are interested in. At this point it is up to the potential buyer to offer a price / trade they are comfortable with via in-app offers or messaging to discuss an offer.

  • Why should I provide proof of purchase in my listing?

    • We encourage you to upload a copy of your receipt to provide more transparency between you and the buyer. COLLECT was made for consumers who wear their sneakers and we want to support as fair pricing as possible in our marketplace.

  • Is there a limit to the number of sneakers I can sell?

    • There is no limit on the number of shoes that you can sell.

General FAQs

  • How do I verify my identity on COLLECT?

    • Verifying your account is simple! Tap on ‘Set Up Stripe’ in your profile and follow the steps to upload a valid document to verify your identity.

  • Who can see my credit card information?

    • Your credit card information can not be seen by any of the other users. It is kept secure using Stripe. SoleSavy support staff can only view the last 4 digits of your credit card, which is useful if you need to make a payment inquiry.

  • What’s the conversion rate for Stripe USD to CAD?

    • The conversion rate changes every two hours. Stripe supports processing charges for USD to CAD, and it will update the conversion estimate automatically.

  • What information can SoleSavy view?

    • SoleSavy has access to the following information:

      • The email address you use for your Stripe account

      • Your country

      • Your default currency

      • Only the last four digits of your external bank account number/debit card number that you set up for payout

      • The name of your financial institution (if you set up a bank account)

    • Access to this information is only granted to authorized SoleSavy staff whose job necessitates it per our privacy policy.

  • Who can see my shipping address?

    • Your shipping address is only viewable by the seller, and only once there has been a successful purchase or trade.

  • Who determines the shipping carrier?

    • The buyer selects the available carriers, and the seller is provided with a prepaid shipping label.

  • Can you report suspicious activity?

    • If you have reason to believe that a member has listed an item deemed as fraudulent, please contact our customer support team on the listing details to make a claim for our team to review. Please provide proof (screenshots) of whatever you are reporting. Our support team’s email is [email protected].

  • Who do I contact if the product arrives damaged?

    • If the Item you receive is not as described on the Service, then you may request a return by reporting the issue through the Service or by emailing [email protected].

  • How do I cancel an offer or an order?

    • All purchases are final, with no returns, refunds, cancellations, or retractions allowed. If there is an issue with the transaction, please contact customer support at [email protected].

  • How do I authenticate my sneakers in COLLECT?

    SoleSavy has partnered with industry leader Legitmark to power authentication on COLLECT.

    In an effort to build a safer sneaker marketplace, Legitmark authentication can now be initiated directly in app.

    How to start authentication process:

    • Tap ‘Launch Legitmark’ in your COLLECT listing to open the Legitmark app. (10% discount automatically applied for COLLECT users).

    • Find the sneaker you’re looking to authenticate.

    • Follow the step-by-step guide in order to capture the correct photos and angles.

    • Sit back and let Legitmark do the work. You’ll receive a confirmation email of your order.

    • If any additional photos are required, Legitmark will reach out for additional images.

    • Get Your Certificated ID back in as little as 12 hours.

    Once authenticated on Legitmark, you will receive a ‘Certificate ID’ that you can add to your COLLECT listing. The best part about this feature is that ID will transfer ownership if you choose to sell or trade your sneaker.
