Verify Your Identity on COLLECT

Learn the steps to verify your identity so you can buy, sell, and trade on COLLECT

In order to build the safest marketplace possible, we require all buyers and sellers to verify their identity before transacting on COLLECT. Identity verification is the process of confirming that a person is who they claim to be.

Until your identity is verified, you’ll be unable to proceed with:

  • Listing items for sale on the marketplace

  • Making an offer on a listed item

  • Buying an item

  • Making trades

To verify your identity, head over to your Profile tab > top right three lines > ”CONTINUE TO STRIPE”.

Next, follow these steps to verify your identity:

  1. Upon clicking on the “Continue to Stripe” button on the COLLECT app, you’ll be taken to connect.stripe.com. Fill out your contact information and click continue.

  2. Verify your personal details. (To learn more about how we handle personal information, read privacy with collect article). Note it can take a few minutes to verify your personal details.

  3. Click “Accept and Continue”

  4. Follow the prompts on the screen to provide photos of the front and the back of your ID:
    ​Note: You may need to try a couple of times before Stripe accepts your photos. Here are a couple of tips:

    1. Take photos in a well-lit place

    2. Put your ID on a dark background that contains no words/ letters

    3. Avoid glare/ blurry shots

  5. Submit your Professional details

  6. Submit the bank account you’d like to receive your payouts from. Your bank information is required for us to process any sales you make and pay you accordingly. We do not use this information to remove any funds from your account. If you make a purchase, you can specify your choice of credit or debit card to use.

  7. Review all your information and confirm it’s accurate before hitting “Submit”

  8. You will now be redirected to the COLLECT app.

Once you’re back on COLLECT:

  1. You should see your Stripe account balance, indicating that your account setup process is complete. You can start transacting!

  2. However, if you still see the button “Verify my identity”, this means that your verification may take a little bit longer than expected. Simply close the app and relaunch it a couple of minutes later and you should see your Stripe account balance.
