Disclaimer: JD Sports/Finish Line has replaced their previous raffle system with the Botfree Early Access reservation program. For purposes of this guide, ‘Botfree’ and ‘Early Access’ mean the same thing. Ultimately, the Botfree program is a pay-to-play rewards system that favors loyalty, content interaction, and frequent purchase history to qualify. If you aren’t prepared to make an initial investment and consistently buy shoes for yourself or for others, this may not be the best program for you.

TLDR

  • $1 spent = 10 STATUS points for General Accounts; $1 = 15 STATUS points for A-Listers. You need to spend $500 in a calendar year to become an A-Lister. A-List greatly enhances, but does not guarantee being granted Early Access on releases. You can still earn points for the purchases you make using Early Access.

  • Ensure your STATUS ‘Profile’ section is completely filled out with your name, birthday, street address, size and brand preferences. This is required info and is used to determine in-store and/or online Early Access.

  • While it’s possible to be granted Early Access as a regular STATUS member, it is recommended to be A-List ($500 spent in a calendar year) to give yourself the best chances of consistently copping. Sadly, this method is essentially pay-to-play

  • Online allocation priority is given to customers without a physical JD/FNL location within 25-50 miles.

  • Typically, the in-store allocation wave goes out first, followed by online allocation within 1-2 days.

  • Online allocation priority is given to customers without a physical JD/FNL location within 25-50 miles Note: Online Botfree allocation is also for in-store customers whose local store does not receive physical allocation on smaller releases.

  • If you are granted access, reservations are awarded on a FCFS basis. Expect a waiting room for the website/apps when EA goes live, especially for major releases.

  • Make sure your notifications for the FNL app are turned on but DO NOT rely on the FNL app push notifications or an email to tell you if you have been granted access. We will announce when EA goes live in #announcement-releases.

Basics & General Information

  • Botfree/Early Access is granted using an algorithm that inputs 33 data points to determine whether or not a STATUS member is granted access to a specific drop. Access is release-specific; being granted access to a release does not guarantee access to future releases.

  • Early Access is granted as a STATUS reward and will require 1000, 1500 or 2000 STATUS points in order to reserve. $1 spent = 10 STATUS points for General Accounts; $1 = 15 STATUS points for A-Listers. You need to spend $500 in a calendar year to become an A-Lister. Most releases secured via Botfree for A-Listers will be STATUS point net positive. Example:

    • 2000 points to reserve your EA pair

    • 2550 points earned from the purchase

    • 2550 earned from purchase - 2000 points spent to reserve = 550 gained

  • Ensure your STATUS ‘Profile’ section is completely filled out with your name, birthday, street address, size and brand preferences. This is required info and is used to determine in-store and/or online Early Access.

  • While it’s possible to be granted Early Access as a regular STATUS member, it is recommended to be A-List ($500 spent in a calendar year) to give yourself the best chances of consistently copping. Sadly, this method is essentially pay-to-play

    • If you earn A-List in a calendar year, you will automatically be renewed for A-List the following year. You must spend $500 each year to requalify for A-List in two years.

  • For most GR drops, JD/FNL will release 2 waves of EA allocation: In-Store & Online Shipping. Both allocations use different criteria for selection. Men’s/Women’s sizes and GS sizes are also separate. You can claim only 1 Men’s pair and 1 GS pair per release method (for a total of 4 pairs max).

  • In-store allocation is granted to only one JD/FNL physical location. The store location you are granted access to is based off of the geographically closest location to your street address entered in your STATUS 'Profile section.

  • Early Access for in-store and online allocations are released on separate days. On Saturday releases, the first wave of EA usually is released early in the week (Monday or Tuesday) of the release week. Typically, the in-store allocation wave goes out first, followed by online allocation within 1-2 days.
Although there are no set times for early access, the most common times have been between 9am-4pm EST (with 11am, 12pm & 2pm EST being the most common).

  • It’s possible to be selected for both online & in-store access – but this seems to be fairly irregular with most STATUS members being granted access to only one allocation.

Note: There are some limited releases that are only available via in-store raffle and do not get loaded into the Botfree program. This is a great way to establish purchase history and work towards A-List qualification.

Process Breakdown

1. Claiming a Botfree Reservation

  • The steps below are identical for app/desktop:

  • Go into the STATUS section of the app/website. Scroll down and click on the ‘View All’ link under the “Choose Your Rewards” header. If you have been granted access, an image of the shoe with the Botfree logo will be visible with the point cost. Click on the point box, select your size, and click Spend [#] Points to claim your reservation.

  • If the size box is greyed out, your size is sold out for the allocation you have been granted access to. You have the option of selecting a different size with an available white box. If all the sizes are greyed out along with a grey Spend [#] Points box, reservations are sold out.

  • Online Botfree reservations will automatically be shipped to your address on file. In-Store Botfree reservations must be picked up by 5pm local time on release day with a Photo ID that matches the name on your STATUS account profile.

2. In-Store Botfree Access Tips

  • Frequent your local store and make purchases from them, especially if you are earning points to qualify for A-List.

  • When visiting your local store, open your app and click on the uppermost left hand icon to ‘Enter Store Mode’. Always do this regardless of whether or not you buy something that day.

  • In your app privacy settings, ensure your sharing location preferences are set to either ‘always’ or ‘while using app’.

  • Here are two ways you can improve your odds with the algorithm:

    • You can make a purchase from the Global Access program inventory.

    • Spend excess STATUS points on charity donation rewards.

  • Try to redeem as many Early Access rewards as you can when you are granted access to them. Declining EA may negatively affect your account for future Early Access. If you don't want the shoe you’ve been granted access to, consider assisting the community so you can still redeem your EA rewards.

3. Online Botfree Access Tips

  • All of the above in-store tips also apply here.

  • Ensure you have app push notifications enabled, and be sure to open EVERY notification possible.

  • Engage with as much JD/FNL content as possible, for example:

    • Open and click through JD/FNL marketing emails

    • Frequent the JD Sports & Finish Line blogs on the website while being logged into your STATUS account.

  • Online purchase history and app/marketing material engagement is your primary data point to earning Online Botfree access.

  • If you have been granted in-store Botfree access, you can still try for online FCFS releases without threat of order cancellation.

4. the JD/FNL Waiting Room

  • The Waiting Room queue is the biggest obstacle to copping on the Botfree program.

  • It is important to keep an eye on #Announcement-Releases on the day the EA goes live.

  • On the same account you can join both JD/FNL waiting rooms on your desktop computer and the mobile app. If you do this we recommend not having your mobile device connected to the same wifi your desktop is on. Use your mobile data.

  • Do not join the waiting room on the JD/FNL app and on your browser on the same device

  • You can claim JD Sports physical in-store Botfree access on FNL website/app, and vice versa. Therefore, joining both JD and FNL waiting room queues is recommended.

  • IP address bans are extremely common with JD/FNL. If you consistently are unable to make it through the waiting room queue on releases or encounter the white IP Address Banned screen, consider resetting your IP address as you are likely either soft or hard banned.

    • Visit whatismyipaddress.com and make note of your IP address. The easiest way to reset your IP address is turning off all your devices and unplugging your router/modem overnight. Plug your router/modem back in, turn on your devices, and make sure you have a different IP address when visiting whatismyipaddress.com. This should solve any IP ban issues and is repeatable.

    • If you encounter the “Unexpected Error” message followed by getting requeued in the app, you likely either are being IP banned, or your app data is corrupted. Reset your IP address and delete your JD/FNL app, followed by redownloading and installing the apps.

Final Notes

  • Every single release has different criteria for Botfree Access. Not being granted access does not mean you are doing anything ‘wrong’.

  • If you frequently are given access and miss a release, the most common culprit is your store simply not being given allocation. There is some speculation that JD/FNL will sometimes prioritize other customers as well. For example, Botfree access on one of the more recent Yeezy 350 V2 releases were primarily awarded to new and infrequent purchase A-List members instead the usual ‘regulars’.
